No conclusions are drawn, and the audience is challenged to discover its own answers to the problem.Young America Films Sound 8 Minutes Discussion Problems in Group Living Series. Synopsis: A discussional film dealing with the everyday problem of teasing or ridicule that is prolonged to the point where it really hurts. In the film, a young girl brings her first bottle of perfume to class to show her friends. The bottle is accidentally broken, and one of the boys in the class says the perfume really smells and starts calling the girl “stinky.” The girl shows her embarrassment, and so the boy continues his teasing whenever he gets a chance. The girl, who has always been a good student finally becomes so upset that she is unable to do her lessons properly. This film is designed to stimulate discussion and help the students arrive at their own answers to the problems portrayed. Other Fellow’s Feelings, The; ; The result of carrying teasing [and ridicule] too far is the theme of this discussional film.; The opening scene shows Judy, a seventh-grade girl, sitting in her classroom crying. While the teacher is sympathetically trying to find out what is the matter, the commentator interrupts to suggest going back to the beginning of the trouble.; When Judy drops a bottle of perfume at school, Jack reacts with “Phooey! Stinky!” After that he begins a teasing campaign which becomes more and more unpleasant, until his other classmates also become impatient with him. Meanwhile, Judy becomes so upset emotionally that her school work suffers considerably. She refuses to tell her teacher what is wrong because she does not want to be a tattle-tale.; The climax of the situation comes when Judy says “I stink” instead of “I think” while reciting. She breaks down completely when the rest of the class laughs. Rather than offering a solution to the problem, the film raises a number of discussion questions and presents alternative courses of action. [Educational Screen, Sept 1951];

Produced by Coronet Films. Educational collaborator: Evelyn M. Duvall,
Ph. D., Consultant, National Council on Family Relations.

Synopsis: A large number of teen-agers find the question “What to do on a
date?” very troublesome. Unless there is a special event to attend, such as
a party, school play, or important game, many a boy is at a loss. This film
tells a simple, natural story of a boy who didn’t know what to do on a date,
and who found out through the suggestion of a friend.

Kay had already seen the movie that Nick wanted her to attend with
him, but he still hesitated to ask her instead if she would like to go to the
community center to get things ready for the scavenger sale. However, his
friend Jeff, said that lots of couples would be there and they would all
have fun. So Nick asked Kay and she readily accepted. While there, they
found that there were many other things they would enjoy together such
as bike trips, miniature golf, etc. Presents how to find activities, how to plan dates that satisfy
both the boy and the girl, and how to make the date an entertaining
and constructive custom. Explores the variety of diversions
available to high school students. Shotlist corresponds to AFP-52F.
